RCI, Incorporated is an international association
of professional consultants, architects, and engineers
who specialize in the specification and design of
roofing, waterproofing and building envelope systems.
Since 1983 RCI members
have offered unbiased design, repair planning, quality
observance, legal testimony, and general roof management
services. In March of 2006, RCI (formerly Roof Consultants
Institute) expanded its mission and service scope
to include waterproofing and the building envelope.
This action reflects the understanding that roofing
issues often influence the entire building envelope.
It was discovered that in increasing frequency,
RCI members are called upon to address building-wide
concerns from below-grade to rooftop.
The Registered
Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing
Consultant (RWC) and Registered Roof Observer
(RRO) programs distinguish professionals with
the proven standards of education, experience
and ethics.

President's Message
An extremely belated
Happy New Year!
As I was preparing to take the reins of the chapter
from the very able hands of now Past President Mike
Clark, I was advised by wise and sage council that
an effective leader has his goals set before he
takes leadership. During the RCI Leadership Council
in North Carolina last year, I decide that my goal
for my Chapter Presidency was to consistently provide
educational opportunities to our membership.
Via chapter sponsored RCI Educational Classes, Educational
Lunches, and partnerships with BEC and other like
minded trade organizations, I believe that GARCI
can provided its membership with a meaningful educational
experience. I don’t want the educational programs
and seminars to be just a means for members to obtain
CEU’s or LU’s, but rather deepen our
member’s knowledge and enlighten each and
every one of us about events and subjects that are
vital to our industry.
Please take a moment and note our calendar here
at the website. The program luncheons have been
scheduled for the year, as have the chapter sponsored
classes and the Annual GARCI Golf Tourney. We look
forward to adding additional information to the
calendar throughout the year.
I encourage you to bookmark our website now, as
this will be the primary source for chapter information
in the next year.
On a personal note, I have been honored to witness,
up close and personal, the RCI National President
in action for the past year. He has done a wonderful
job as president and I can honestly say he worked
tirelessly for the benefit of his membership as
well as for the benefit of the Chapters across the
country and Canada. If you see him at the RCI National
convention or at a local meeting or event, shake
his hand and be sure to tell him “Thank You”…
he deserves it.
Until next time,
Eric Downey, RRO CDT
